| Until 2001, Margaret Hathaway hadn't taken an art class since the fourth grade when she talked so much in class that she had to write "Whisper" 500 times! At age 46, while on a beach trip, she was introduced to watercolor, and she's been at it ever since. In May of 2001, after taking one class in drawing at the Atlanta College of Art, she studied watercolor in France with Tony van Hasselt.
Her paintings are whimsical, colorful, fun, and loaded with crazy details that make each painting fun to look at from a distance and also “close up”. She uses watercolor and ink, and has labeled herself a "basically-self-taught-SUB-URBAN -Folk-Artist."
Margaret lives in Atlanta with her husband, Rich, and their son Ian, Margaret Jr., is currently in Scotland at the Univeristy of St. Andrews, she currently studies English and Art History.
